About

Sultanahmet, with its thousands of years of history, forms the heart of Istanbul. Hagia Sophia (built in 532), Topkapi Palace (administrative center of the Ottoman Empire), Sultanahmet Mosque (unique in the world with its 6 minarets) and Basilica Cistern are located in this district. The obelisks and Egyptian obelisk in the Hippodrome square bear traces of history.

Go early in the morning. Hagia Sophia is free. Buy Topkapi tickets online to skip queues.

🚇 Transport from IFM

Metro: M1A Aksaray → Yenikapı, tram T1 Sultanahmet stop. From IFM by taxi ~40 min, 35-50 TL.
